20110325 presstv Revolutionary forces are gearing up for a new attack on troops loyal to embattled Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi to win back the eastern city of Ajdabiyah.
Latest reports indicate that the revolutionary forces on Friday brought multiple rocket launchers and pick-up trucks mounted with heavy machine guns into the city.
Clashes have been raging on between revolutionary forces and pro-Gaddafi troops in the city. Gaddafi's troops took back the strategic city only two weeks ago.
Witnesses say two loud explosions were heard and a vast plume of smoke was seen near the eastern frontline town of Ajdabiyah,150 km (90 miles) south of Benghazi, a Press TV correspondent reported.
This comes after British Tornado warplanes struck government armor in Ajdabiyah overnight.
The Libyan revolutionary council based in Benghazi is now attempting to provide the people with governmental services and control borders.
The council has also reportedly improved its structure and functions over the past weeks.
The council, headed by Libya's former justice minister Mustafa Abdel Jalil, plans to lead the country to an election.
Jalil was among the first high-profile Libyan figures to join protesters following the Gaddafi regime's brutal crackdown on the opposition.
Dozens of civilians have been killed in Libya since US-led forces launched aerial attacks on the North African country.
