20110331 Xinhua TRIPOLI, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Forces loyal to embattled Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi are progressing toward the eastern town of Brega, Al-Arabiya TV reported Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, pro-Gaddafi forces recaptured the key oil center of Ras Lanuf.
Rebel fighters said they were overwhelmed by the superior firepower and range of Gaddafi's weapons.
Aided by Western-led military strikes, the rebels had managed to seize a number of oil-rich towns in restive Libya, including Ras Lanuf and Brega in recent days.
