20110331 Xinhua KAMPALA, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Uganda on Wednesday refuted reports that it had offered Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi asylum if he chooses to go to exile.
Tamale Mirundi, the spokesperson for Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni told Xinhua by telephone that the story published in media was false.
"I don't know anything about that thing," he said.
Mirundi was quoted as saying that Gaddafi is welcome to stay in Uganda since the country's policy is to grant asylum seekers refugee status.
Museveni in a statement distributed on March 22 condemned the Western military attacks on Libya.
He instead called for dialogue between Gaddafi and the rebels who want to remove him out of power.
