20110331 Xinhua ABIDJAN, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Forces allied with Cote d'Ivoire's presidential claimant Alassane Ouattara have entered the country's political capital Yamoussoukro, media reports said on Wednesday.
The reports quoted the forces' spokesman as saying that they had entered the capital of Yamoussoukro late Wednesday afternoon, but met with some resistance.
The pro-Ouattara forces who are mostly comprised of ex-rebels from the north, New Forces fighters, on Monday launched a grand offensive on the southern half of the country.
On the second day of their offensive, they managed to capture three strategic towns of Duekoue in the west, Daloa in central- west and Abengourou in the east.
