20110414 presstv Eight Libyans have been killed as dozens of Grad rockets of Muammar Gaddafi forces struck the northern city of Misratah, a revolutionary forces spokesman says.
“They fired Grads at a residential area called Kasr Ahmad near the port this morning. They fired at least 80 rockets on that area,” Abdelbasset Abu Mzereiq told Reuters on Thursday.
“So far we have eight martyrs and 20 wounded,” he added.
According to Libya's National Transitional Council, since the revolution against Colonel Gaddafi's regime began in mid-February at least 10,000 people have been killed and another 30,000 injured in clashes with pro-Gaddafi forces in the North African country, while 20,000 more are still listed as missing.
Many civilians have also reportedly been killed since the US-led coalition unleashed a major air campaign against regime forces on March 19 under a UN mandate to protect the Libyan population.
Meanwhile, the US-led forces have admitted to killing revolutionary forces and civilians in a fresh airstrike in eastern Libya.
The Western military alliance, however, has refused to apologize for the deadly bombardment.
Revolutionary forces criticize the US-led forces for their failure to prevent the killing of civilians by Gaddafi troops.
