KAMPALA (Reuters) - Ugandan opposition leader Kizza Besigye flew to Kenya on Friday to seek treatment for injuries received during his arrest on Thursday, opposition and airline officials said.
Ugandan security officials had earlier blocked him at the airport and prevented him boarding a Kenya Airways plane. Besigye was eventually allowed to board and the flight took off after a delay.
"I can confirm he's on board. The plane was delayed for over an hour," said Anne Mugisha, deputy foreign secretary of the opposition party Forum for Democratic Change.
A Kenya Airways official told a reporter at the airport that Besigye was wearing dark glasses, looked ill and was supported by people while boarding the plane.
