20110612 Reuters ALGIERS (Reuters) - Fighting between rebels and government forces in Zawiyah, near the Libyan capital, killed 13 rebels and civilians on Saturday and clashes were continuing for a second day on Sunday, said a rebel spokesman in the town.
"Fierce fighting is taking place now. The (government) brigades have been receiving reinforcements, their number is increasing," the spokesman, who gave his name as Ibrahim, told Reuters by telephone.
"There are many snipers on rooftops of buildings and mosques. They are the main threat to the residents."
"There were 13 martyrs, including a 7-year old boy, from fighting yesterday," he said from Zawiyah, which about is 50 km (30 miles) west of Tripoli.
