20110614 xinhua ABUJA, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Nigeria's Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it would ensure that election materials are made accessible for forensic inspection as might be ordered by any election tribunal.
Spokesperson for the commission Kayode Idowu made this known to reporters on Monday in Abuja. Idowu said INEC will follow the process of the law in making the materials available for forensic inspection.
"INEC has always said its doors are open to vet the materials used in the conduct of the April general elections, but this must be done within the provisions of the law," the spokesperson said.
Idowu wondered why anyone would want to have access to materials used during the elections without following the due legal process.
"The law has made it clear on how people can vet the materials and that must be adhered to," he said.
Kayode faulted reports alleging that INEC is denying access to materials used for the conduct of the April elections.
