20110619 Xinhua TUNIS, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian interim President Fouad Mebazaa Saturday met with Mustafa Abdul Jalil, chairman of Libya's rebel National Transitional Council (NTC), the state-run TAP press agency reported.
The Libyan official, accompanied by a delegation, thanked Tunisia for its solidarity with the Libyan people who are going through a difficult stage of history.
The meeting was also an opportunity to reaffirm Tunisia's position in support of the Libyan people, TAP said.
Tunisia's Defense Minister Abdelkrim Zbidi, Secretary of State to Foreign Affairs Radhouane Nouicer and Secretary of State to the Prime Minister Ridha Belhadj also attended the meeting.
The NTC chairman met on the same day with Tunisian interim Prime Minister Beji Caid Essebsi.
Following the meeting, Mustafa Abdul Jalil said the " humanitarian aid provided by Tunisia to Libya and the friendly positions it has adopted, are worth much more than the recognition of the Libyan NTC," adding that the Tunisia will play "a major role in Libya's reconstruction," TAP reported.
