TUNIS, June 25 (Xinhua) -- A court in Tunis has doubled the sentence against Imed Trabelsi, the former nephew of ousted president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, sentencing him to four years in prison and a 3,000 dinar (about 2,200 USD) fine, for drug abuse, the state-run press agency TAP reported on Saturday.

Imed Trabelsi, had appealed a previous sentence in May, condemning him to two years imprisonment and a 2,000 dinar (1,500 USD) fine.

A justice ministry spokesman said that Imed Trabelsi will also be prosecuted on charges including corruption, fraud and trafficking of archeological items, TAP said.

He is part of the 114 relatives of the former president and his wife, Leila Ben Ali whose possessions have been confiscated and entrusted to a national commission.

The former president and his wife who fled to Saudi Arabia following nationwide protests against his rule were sentenced to 35 years each and fined 91 million dinars (about 70 million USD), earlier this week.
