20110718 Reuters SAO TOME (Reuters) - Sao Tome's former president Manuel Pinto da Costa and current parliament speaker Evaristo de Carvalho will face each other in a run-off for the country's presidency after neither won an outright majority in Sunday's election, the election body said.
The second-round poll will take place on August 7. Provisional results showed da Costa leading with 35 percent of the vote, ahead of de Carvalho on 21 percent, election commission chief Victor Correia said on Monday.
Sao Tome is in the oil-rich Gulf of Guinea region where results from wells have disappointed over the last few years.
