20111204 Press TV Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood will be the leading party in the next round of Egypt's parliamentary elections, a prominent analyst tells Press TV .
In an exclusive interview with Press TV on Friday, Lebanese political analyst Isaam Noman said the Muslim Brotherhood will have the lead in the country's first parliamentary elections because it is “well organized, with a lot of experience.”
The early timing of the election has also given the party an advantage over other parties, including Liberal Democrats, who needed more time to organize themselves, Noman added.
The Muslim Brotherhood was leading in the opening round of the country's first post-revolution parliamentary elections, according to press reports.
The initial stage of parliamentary elections were held on November 28-29, nearly ten months after former Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak was ousted in a popular revolution in February.
The Muslim Brotherhood has been cooperating with “the (ruling) Military Council, all the way since last February, and that gave them an advantage on others,” Noman went on to say.
Noman touched upon Egypt's political future, saying Egyptians would like to have more freedom as they suffered greatly during the authoritarian regime of Mubarak and the “electoral proportional system encourages having more [political] parties” in the country.
The vote is seen as the first step in pushing the military rulers to transfer power to a civilian government.
Some Egyptians boycotted the elections, casting doubt on the credibility of any ballot held under military rule.
They fear the military council, led by Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, is trying to retain power.
