20111212 Press TV At least another four people, including one woman, have lost their lives in the post-election violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Clashes broke out in the Congo capital of Kinshasa, following the Friday announcement that incumbent President Joseph Kabila had won with 49 percent of the vote, the Associated Press reported.
According to recent reports, police shot dead three looters, while a woman was hit by a stray bullet.
Since the results, there have also been unconfirmed reports of deaths in two other towns. The Carter Center which monitored the elections says the results "lack credibility".
The developments come as Kabila's main rival Etienne Tshisekedi, who came in second with 32 percent of the vote, declared himself president shortly after the official results were released.
While international observers have said there were irregularities, they have declined to call for an annulment of the vote.
Congo has faced numerous problems over the past few years, such as grinding poverty, crumbling infrastructure, and a war in the east of the country that has dragged on for over a decade, leaving over 5.4 million people dead.
