20111212 Press TV Ivory Coast's second parliamentary polls in 11 years have closed amid reports of low voter turnout in contrast to last year's massive presidential elections.
Election officials in the West African country said they expected most of the results from Sunday's vote to be known by Tuesday, Reuters reported.
The coalition of Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara is expected to win most of the 255 seats in the new assembly.
Earlier on Sunday, the polls saw voters trickling into polling stations in the commercial capital, Abidjan, which witnessed months of violence after former strongman Laurent Gbagbo refused to accept defeat in the November 2010 elections.
The vote was boycotted by the party of Gbagbo who is in The Hague facing war crimes charges and crimes against humanity including murder and sexual violence against the people of his country.
Over 5 million people were eligible to vote for the elections in Ivory Coast.
According to election officials and observers, the voting process stayed peaceful across the country.
