20111228 Press TV Somali journalists have staged several rallies during the past week in the capital city of Mogadishu to condemn the killing of a television journalist, Press TV reports.
The demonstrators called for the Transitional Federal Government to bring to book the murderers of Abdisalam Sheikh Hassan.
According to the officials, he was slain on December 18 by a man dressed in government force uniform in the war-torn Mogadishu.
Somali journalists say the demonstrations will continue until Somalia's leaders pay head to their calls and put an end to media repression by the warring sides in Mogadishu.
Media oppression in Somalia has forced hundreds of journalists to flee from Somalia to the neighboring countries in fear of either being victimized or killed by the warring factions in the country.
Many Journalists have found themselves victimized by government with the security forces confiscating their equipments and denying them entry into events in places like the airport and the seaport.
Somalia has so far seen many of its journalists either in prison or killed with most of these murders gone unresolved.
